Tech is Not Just IT— It’s Biotech

Kenyatta University (KU) and The 4gotten Bottomillions (4BM), The Common Dominator.

Did you know? Kenya spent $612 million on pharmaceutical imports and $72.7 million on pesticides in 2023. That’s billions of shillings leaving our economy when we have the raw materials, the talent, and the indigenous knowledge to develop our own solutions. Here’s the challenge: We’ve relied on external solutions for too long. The opportunity? Phytotherapeuticals—plant-based medicines and biopesticides—built from Kenya’s rich botanical heritage. That’s why The 4gotten Bottomillions (4BM) is partnering with Kenyatta University’s NaPRUQA Centre.

Why KU?

• Kenya’s Top University (2025) – Ranked #1 in Kenya in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, surpassing the University of Nairobi.

• Massive Talent Pool – Home to 70,000+ students, making it one of the largest hubs for innovation in East Africa.

• Expansive Research Capabilities – With an 1,000-acre campus and 18 schools, KU is a powerhouse for public health, engineering, and biotechnology.

• Proven Commitment to Research & Innovation – KU’s global ranking reflects its dedication to scientific discovery, collaboration, and technological advancement.

What's the Vision?

• Leverage indigenous knowledge to develop Kenya-made pharmaceuticals.

• Empower youth through 4BM digital platforms via WhatsApp to scale innovation.

• Position Kenya as a leader in frontier biotechnology and self-reliance.

We’ve not just formed a partnership. We’re launching a movement. A movement to commercialize indigenous knowledge, reduce dependency on imports, and showcase Kenya’s potential for its local people.

The future belongs to those who dare to innovate. We’re daring to dream bigger.
